This winter has been one of the mildest I can remember. The trees here in Toronto are so confused, I have seen some already sprouting buds. There has been a notable absence of snow and the usual bitter cold temperatures. Torontonians …
When I hear the word treadmill, a few words come to mind: Boring. Repetitive. Dull. Auto-repeat. Nooooooooooooooooooo. You too? My reaction is mostly because I tend to fall into major treadmill ruts. I’ve recently discovered if I don’t consciously make an effort to create interesting treadmill workouts, then I really only have myself to blame [...]
Over the past 2 weeks I have been taking part in the MapMyFitness Quaker Challenge. The benefits of taking part in this program are the accountability I have from being part of a larger group of people who are on the same journey as I am. I know that b…
The alarm on my cell phone beeps to life at 5:44 am. I groan quietly, then slink to the bathroom to pee. I slip my work-out clothes on, brush my fuzzy teeth, rub my eyes and head out the door….
Have you ever had a hobby or activity that you love and let it get away for a while? And a lot of time goes by and you start to wonder if you’ll ever get back into it? That’s sort of what happened to me with running races. In 2009, I got hooked on races [...]

One of my goals for 2012 is to try and continue to do yoga at least 1x week. Now that I’ve mostly recovered from my hamstring tendonitis, it’s not so much the physical benefits I crave (although I love those too!) as the mental benefits. I really enj…
Pay if you don’t work out; get cash if you do.
My theory is if I drink a lot of smoothies, spring will magically appear. So far, outlook not good…(although today was the first dusting of snow we’ve had practically all winter!). This is why I haven’t changed my blog header to a winter theme yet…I need more snow! This smoothie was made up of frozen [...]
