The French are whining again!

Arthur Clarke’s long-ago comment in Childhood’s End was that, “in sum, the French are the world’s best second-raters,” and I really can’t disagree!  They’re a bunch of whiners who never give up …….., and never shut up!

At least as far as sovereignty goes.

MONTREAL – Fans heading to the Bell Centre tonight to watch the Montreal Canadiens will be met by protesters who want the organization to be more French.

Some Quebec nationalists say the recent hiring of unilingual anglophone Randy Cunneyworth as coach is the latest slap in the face against the French language.

They are also complaining the music played at the Bell Centre is in English, that announcements are in both languages and that the team has few francophone players.

Cunneyworth was named interim coach on Dec. 17 and is expected to hold the position until the end of the season.

Under his guidance, the team has posted two wins and six defeats.

Some Canadiens fans interviewed earlier this week said if the team started winning nobody would care whether the coach spoke French.
