HEY FOLKS, REMEMBER THIS STUFF?
—————————————————-
Chilly winter-style weather is due to arrive in Atlantic Canada this weekend as an unseasonable storm moving up the U.S. East Coast barrels towards the region.
Environment Canada has issued snowfall and rainfall warnings for several areas in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
The anticipated snowstorm is the offshoot of a storm moving up the U.S. East Coast. It’s soon expected to combine with a cold air mass and coat the country’s northeast states with snow before moving up to Canada.
Forecasters predict southern New Brunswick will be coated with up to 20 centimetres of snow by Sunday when the storm tracks just south of Nova Scotia.
Rain and strong gusts of wind are expected to strike parts of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island on the same day.
While most of the precipitation along the coast of New Brunswick’s Bay of Fundy is expected to be in the form of rain, Environment Canada has said that a rain-snow mix could also hit the area.
On Sunday, residents living along the U.S. Eastern seaboard started preparing for what’s expected to be an unseasonable snowstorm.
New England resident Dan Patrylak picked up two new ice scrapers for his car and said he’s looking forward to seeing snow on the ground about.
Elsewhere in the United States, people were dreading the anticipating snowfall.
“This is just wrong,” said East Hampton resident Dee Lund.
In the U.S., likely to see the most snow will be the Massachusetts Berkshires, the Litchfield Hills in northwestern Connecticut, southwestern New Hampshire and the southern Green Mountains.
In Connecticut, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy warned residents that they could lose power due to the anticipated wet, heavy snow.
Early snowfall records could be broken in Connecticut and Massachusetts could also be broken this weekend, said the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS).
